In A World Of Need
With over 20,000 denominations and sects claiming Christianity, as well as 2 billion people of the world, exactly what is the meaning of the cross of Jesus Christ? Though God is doing wonderful and miraculous works in the world today, the Church in America is in trouble. The issues in the modern church mirror those at Corinth: divisions (1 Corinthians 1:10); unhealthy loyalty to personalities (1 Corinthians 1:12); the cross was peripheral in teaching and preaching (1 Corinthians 1:18-20, cf. 2 Cor. 11); members displaying a pseudo-spirituality (1 Corinthians 3:3); sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 5); and lay leaders undermining pastoral authority (1 Corinthians 4:1-7). Many are confused and discouraged, not knowing how to handle their own church situations, while others struggle for meaning and how to live the normal Christian life.
How did we get here? How did the church at Corinth get there? There has been a shallow understanding of the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ. There has also been a watering-down of the offensive and convicting message of the cross. Thirdly, in many areas of leadership, we have replaced faith in God's power and message with man's means. The Apostle Paul's antidote to the situation at Corinth must be ours as well: he preached a relevant application of the cross of Jesus Christ. The Church needs to see how the cross transforms every aspect of a Christian's life as well as the corporate body of Christ such as in leadership, decision-making, unity, witnessing and evangelism, ministry, counseling, teaching, and worship.
Because of this need, and in addition to local church ministry, Dr. Richardson co-founded CrossReach Ministries International with his wife Monica in 2000. CrossReach is a Great Commission, renewal ministry dedicated to increasing the local church's awareness, understanding, and relevant application of Paul's message of "Christ crucified."
If you share this same passion and burden, join us in calling the Church back to the applied preeminent message of 'Christ crucified.' Ask the Lord how he wants you to participate in fulfilling the vision of CrossReach Ministries. By the cross of Christ, let's reach out to the world and seek God's release of His resurrection power in our own lives, the Church, and the lost.
